Sparkle Quilt Along, Part 6

Layout and Assembly

Ready for the real fun to begin? Now we get to take all of the units and blocks and pieces and lay them out for assembly!

The instructions will vary based on the size quilt you are making but the sewing will be in rows as usual.

Arrange the blocks, sashing and cornerstones as shown in the size diagram you have selected.

Sew the rows of blocks and sashing together, press toward the sashing strips.

Sew the rows of sashing strips and cornerstone squares together, press toward the cornerstones.

Sew the block rows to the sashing rows, press toward the sashing rows. Repeat until all rows are sewn together.

Arrange the border units as shown (rotating every other unit to create the design). Sew the border rows and press.

Sew 2 borders to opposite sides of the quilt, press toward the sashing rows.

Sew 2 remaining borders to opposite sides of the quilt, press toward the sashing rows.

Remember, this is not a race, if you don’t finish in a week it’s okay, but be sure to print out the directions for future reference.
