Apple Pie
The first of the apples of the season will be arriving soon and that means apple pie season! Is there anything that smells more delicious than a pie baking? Here's my recipe and if you make it, don't forget to add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Apple Pie Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
7-8 large honeycrisp apples, peeled and sliced
Grated zest of one lemon
juice of half a lemon
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons flower
1 pre-mad pie crust
Mix the all the ingredients (except crust) in a large bowl and toss to coat the apples.
Rub the pie plate with butter to coat. Line the dish with the bottom crust and press into place.
Fill with the apple mixture.
Cover with the top crust and press the edges closed. Cut vents in the top. I choose a different design each time, but a simple quilt block or pattern would be a nice touch!
Put the pie in the oven and turn the temp down to 375 immediately. Bake for 45 minutes or until the crust is golden and the juices bubble. Cool before serving.
Enjoy every bite!
