Sparkle Quilt Along, Part 1

Today we begin cutting strips and squares from our scraps or stash! This is where things begin to SPARKLE!

PSST: Go ahead and change your rotary blade, you know you need to !

For each block cut the following:

Background fabrics: cut 16 squares 2 1/2’’ x 2 1/2’’

Background fabrics: cut 4 strips 2 1/2” x 18” (these will make 32 background/bright triangles next week)

Bright fabrics: cut 4 strips 2 1/2” x 18” (these will make 32 background/bright triangles next week)

Bright fabrics: cut 4 strips 2 1/2” x 18” (these will make 16 bright/bright triangles next week)

TIP: If you are only making a table runner or single block, you will want to make your fabric choices scrappier than cutting strips. The strips allow for more mixing later if you are making a larger quilt.

Depending on the size chosen, this could be a lot of cutting. I recommend that you cut enough for one block at a time and take breaks in between. Also, highlight the part of the chart given last week that you have chosen, this will prevent mistakes or incorrect numbers of units. We will begin cutting and sewing triangles next week. Enjoy every stitch! Diane
