Black and White Scrappy Quilts

Colorful and color filled quilts are my favorite kinds of quilts. The more fabrics, the more colors equals more fun in my opinion! That’s why when I made my first black and white quilt (to illustrate the concept of contrast) I was certain it was not going to be a fun process, probably even boring. I was so wrong! I loved playing with the black and white fabrics, and mixing scale, prints and styles. I was so intrigued by the combinations and the result was the opposite of boring!

After making that first black and white quilt, I made another and then 3 more. I know I have more black and white quilts in my future because I still have plenty of fabrics to play with, and I’ve already got ideas to explore like gradation, and blending and the list goes on…

If you’ve ever made a black and white quilt, I would love to see it! Check mine out on Pinterest and please use tags #blackandwhitequilt #butterflythreadsquilting on social media to share the joy. Even someone like me who is in love with all the colors of the rainbow can truly appreciate a quilt that has none.

Enjoy every stitch! Diane
