Colorado Springs
The Palmer Divide Quiltmakers invited me to share my Scrap Quilt Secrets program and teach the Selvage Secrets workshop. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of quilters to spend some time with! They were kind and fun and creative and I enjoyed every minute with them! Two of the quilters I met years ago on my last teaching trip to Colorado were there and it was so fun to reconnect with them as they had made my last visit so enjoyable. I’m very blessed indeed to be connected to so many amazing quilters!
The teaching days happened to be the two days after our first wedding anniversary so Chris and I planned extra days to really enjoy ourselves. We ate an amazing Anniversary Dinner at the Grand View restaurant overlooking the Garden of the Gods. We drove to the very top of Pike’s Peak and along the Old Stage Road but the most beautiful views were from the Seven Falls hike. We even saw a rattlesnake (rattling away!) along the path while we walked the trails of Garden of the Gods.
We ate an amazing lunch at Wines of Colorado and equally delicious dinner at the Colorado Mountain Brewery. Our hotel was across the highway from the Air Force Academy so we took a driving tour of the gorgeous campus. Navy was in town for the football game so we enjoyed both the Navy and Air Force flyovers.
But the very best timing was the weather and the fall color! I finally saw the Aspens in their golden glory, something I had always wanted to see. It did not disappoint! Colorado and it’s quilters will always remain in my heart. The memories will be cherished forever!
Enjoy every adventure, Diane
